Polk County Fire Rescue utilizes part-time firefighters to fill-in as needed. Part-time firefighters may be assigned to a particular station and/or shift for a period of time and/or utilized on an "as needed" basis.
Hiring process:
Candidate completes an on-line application during the job posting period.
Candidate completes the pre-employment testing process:
* Written test with a score of 80% or higher (must pass to move on through the process)
* Physical Ability Test. (Can be Ridge Fire Academy test or equivalent*, no more than six months old)

* Candidate may be called for one or more interviews.
Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list that will be good approximately six months.
*As determined by Polk County Fire Rescue.
